Best time to visit Kruger National Park

The best time to visit Kruger National Park depends largely on what you want to experience, particularly if your focus is on game viewing. We recommend avoiding travel between December and April when the park experiences its rainy season, making it hot and humid, and the bush dense. During this time, wildlife can be harder to spot, and some roads may become challenging to navigate. The shoulder seasons, particularly from May to June, offer better affordability, though game viewing can still be affected by lingering vegetation. For the best wildlife experiences, the dry winter months from June to September are ideal. During this peak season, the sparse bush and limited water sources make it easier to spot animals congregating around waterholes, though accommodations and tours may be more expensive.
