The National Park Service will be celebrating their 100th Anniversary in 2016. The centennial will kick off a second century of stewardship of America’s national parks and engaging communities through recreation, conservation, and historic preservation programs.
In celebration of this milestone, the Adventure Safari Network, in conjunction with the Yellowstone Foundation and other partners, has created an opportunity for a diverse group of high school students (completed 8th-12th grades) to visit and experience America’s first National Park. Dates are June 20-30, 2016, and participants will travel via motor coach from Rockford, Illinois. The trip will also include Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and Grand Teton National Park.
Students selected for this exciting opportunity will not only experience spectacular scenery and wildlife, but also participate in our leadership program throughout the 10-day event. The trip includes environmental education, leadership training, and photography workshops.
Students will have opportunities to improve their photography with targeted lessons from our photography instructors, and will return with a personalized album of the trip.
The application process includes an essay, two teacher recommendations, and an interview. Applications will be accepted beginning September 1, 2015. Additional trip details and online applications are available here.
